I reckon there isn't anybody in this world that one can really believe.

2 words that are in my mind.
What do each of them mean?
Subjective is the way I would describe them.

Having the company of another person whom
one can associate with and shares interests and activities with another person.

What is the difference between these 2 terms?
I asked many people.
However, some were able to tell me that
there is only 1 thing to differentiate them.
EMOTIONS also known as FEELINGS.

I actually realized that
Love and companion do co-exist together.
There are many factors which will cause both to happen in the end.

An example:
An arranged marriage.
Initially, no love exist between each party.
It was only companion at first.
As time passes by,

It sounds simply isn't it?

Reflections

So many things had happened.
I stayed at home everyday
other than Wednesday whereby I was forced to go to school.

During these few days,
So many things have been running in my mind.
Questions.
Doubts.
Confusion.
Sad.
Anger.
Lonely.
Memories of happiness.

So many nights and days.
I cried.
Insomia.
No appetite.

Although I was unable to think clearly.
But yet, there are so many questions in my head.
No matter how tired I am.
I am still unable to sleep.

I still miss him.
At the same time,
I felt
Scared.
Confused.
Fear.
I really can't describe in my own words.
As I am unable to elaborate my feelings very well.

Today, when I was in IRC,
I came across someone saying this:

True love is when you shed a tear and still want him.
It's when he ignores you and you still love him.
It's when he loves another but you still smile and say "i'm happy for you."
When all you really do is cry....and cry

Is that the definition of true love?
If that is, I would say that I do love him.

However, throughout all these days of reflection.
I realized that I shouldn't put all the blame on him.
It is also partially my fault too.
Many people would say that it is not my fault.
When a relationship fails, especially a long distance relationship.
It is not just one party's fault.
There's always a reason why things would happen.
I do understand how he feels.
Being all so alone when I am far away.
I sincerely do.
As I also do feel super lonely here too.

Many people would reckon.
What he does is a selfish act.
But once again.
Let me ask you a question:
"Have you never been selfish before?"
We are human afterall.
Human do make mistakes.
Mistakes which one cant control at all.
Hence, there is a phrase which I mentioned earlier:
"History repeats itself again."
I reckon nobody is able to understand what each party feels
except for the 2 of them.

However,
during these few days,
these are the things which I reflected for a successful relationship.

Care.
Respect.
Concern.
Understanding.
Being sensitive.
Listening to him/her actively .
There might be more stuff.
But these are the main stuff which I must learn.
If time is on my side,
I just hope that I would have the chance to turn back time.
I know I am being really silly.
But.
All I can say now.
If he is meant for me,

Missing him heaps

Today is the 4th day that we broke up.
I thought I was able to stop thinking of him.
However, I failed.
Lost.
Weak.
Angry.
Lonely.
Shocked.
Confused.
Devastated.
I really don't know how and what to feel.
Nothing is going on well.
I can't concentrate on my studies.
I know I should not do that.
But even when I start studying.
It is still him that is flashing in my mind.

These few days,
I really ponder.
Am I really such a failure?
Why is it that guys will also fall for another girl?
Is it that I didn't treat them well enough?
I keep on thinking it is my fault.
The fault of leaving him all alone there.
Blaming myself of not being able to come back and meet up with him.
However, many people tell me it isn't my fault.
But I can't blame him myself too.
It is the reason that he misses me too much.
He felt so lonely when I wasn't by his side.
Although we webcam, chat on the phone, irc, msn.
Any form of communication.
But yet, I still failed.
He felt so lonely.
Now he is lonely.
So am I.
Being in a foreign country.
All by myself.
With nobody to look for.
All my friends are far away from me.
All my family are not near me.
I fell too deep.
Deep into a tunnel where I see nothing
Darkness might be the word.
Or maybe not.
I really don't know.

I even had a dream.
A dream of me being homeless in Australia.
My housemate thought that I would be moving out.
So they searched for another housemate.
I thought I would look for another place.
Unfortunately, the place was no longer available for me to stay.
Homeless.
Lost.
Sad.
Is the dream trying to telling me what I am feeling?
Or is the dream actually reflecting how I am feeling?
I really don't know.
Unable to understand anything that comes to my mind.
Other than him running through my mind.
Be it before and after my sleep.
In the bus all by myself
In class which I always attend on every Wednesday.
Every single thought that comes to me is him.
Why am I really such a failure?
Why am I unable to stand up once again like I used to do so?
I really hate myself for doing that.

During these few days, many people tried to console me.
I really appreciate everybody's help.

A sudden shock

So many things have happened.
I didn't expect things to turn out like that.
I really wonder is it me who have actually brought this to be like that?
Why do I feel so weak?
Lost?

From a sudden of 'I miss you alot" to a sudden "I fall in love with someone else".
Why did these change just like that?
Is it cause of my previous blog?
He reassured me that he won't be unfaithful and disloyal to me.
However, it doesn't seem to be the case.
He told me he likes another person.
It really shocked me.
I am unsure why is that so?
I tried crying.
Too little tears.
Is that numb?
Or is that a feeling of being lost?
How long again will I need to take to love someone again?
It took me so much courage to love him.
But yet, things just seem to be a flop.
What should I do?
I know I am suppose to move on.
But how am I able to move on just like that?
It is just so fast and too sudden.
I really can't take it anymore.
Sleepless nights.
Feeling hungry but yet no mood to eat at all.
I want to be friends.
But how am I going to take that courage to do that?

Not long ago,
I had a dream of me breaking up and patching up again.

History repeats itself again

This week had been a really hard week for me.
So many things had happened. Sighs.
However, there is one thing that give me the most impact.

History repeated its history again.
I have so many questions in my mind.
Can anybody answer my questions?

1. Why can't an individual just be loyal to their life partner?
I reckon even aniamls can do a better job than human.
An example would be birds.
Birds are loyal and faithfyl to their life partner for their entire life.
So, why are human unable to do the same too?
Does this mean that animals are much better than human?
At least they are loyal and faithful to their partners.

2. Why there are third parties that will break up the families?
It is so sickening to have such people to do that.
I simply HATE such people.
Does this mean that the happiness which was shown by the couple previously was fake?
Making it just a scene to show that a couple if happy.
However, it is just an act?
Isn't that sad?

3. If there's such a thing called adultery, what should the other partner do when he/she discovered that their life partner has another person involved in their marriage?
Divorce? This will affect the whole family.
This is simply a selfish act of that person who does such thing.
Althernatively, should he/she pretend that nothing happened?
If he/she does that, would it makes one become crazy?
How long do you think that one person can stand it for how long?
After forgiving this person once for this mistake,
should the person be forgiven again once again if he/she commits the same mistake again?
Have the person actually thought of his/her family before doing such a thing.
Isn't it stupid?
He/she knows that it isn't right,
but yet still does it and still seek for forgiveness again after that.
If it is me, I reckon there won't be such history happening in my life.
I rather choose divorce rather than suffer repeatedly again.
No matter how much I love that person.
If he/she prefers that, I rather give the person the freedom rather than holding him back
which will in turn make myself suffer.
You can say that I am selfish.
But I rather protect myself rather than being hurt by such feelings again.

This leads to my other question:
4. During marriage, why are there marriage vows such as:
"Do you take ___ as your lawful wife/husband,
to have and to hold,
from this day forward,
for better or for worse,
for richer or for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and cherish until death do you part?"
Does each party actually mean it at all?
Then why will there be adultery in the 1st place?
Sometimes I really wonder:
"Is there such thing called LOVE?"
I reckon from what I see, it doesnt seem to be the case.
How am I going to believe in love?
Seeing so many failed marriage in this world.
Sighs.

5. Why are there such thing called "Happily ever after?"
There is no such thing happening in such a world?
So many unhappy marriage or even relationship existed in this world.
I see some friends and family have long lasting relationship.
How do they actually do that?
It is due to
(a) habit of being togther?
(b) Real true love?
(c) Others which I also have no idea at all.
I need answers!!

Devastated.
Sad.
Angry.
Confused.
So many different kind of feelings mixed together.
What should I do?
Still believe in love?
Or should not believe that there is no such thing as love at all?
Should I just be single?
Just be together with someone and just be like that?
How am I going to get assurance for marriage and love?
It is so difficult.
I am still trying my best to stay faithful and loyal to the one I love.
However, seeing all these things that happened,
it just makes me worried.
Scared that such happy marriage won't happen in my life.
I really have no idea of what to do.

New Gloss stuff

I have been sleeping and waking up early these few days.
Something different for a noctural.

It is a cold saturday.
I woke up at around 10am in the morning.
A good day to rest at home.
However, I had promised my classmate, Yetti,
that I would be meeting her at Flinder Medical Centre (FMC) bus stop.
Today, she arrived Adelaide from Hong Kong and she needed my help too.

Initially, it wasn't raining at all when I left my house.
It was a sunny but yet cooling day.
However, when I arrived and met Yetti.
The rain started pouring.
I simply hate going out on a rainy day.
I will get all wet which I hate it.
If I have a choice,
I would rather stay at home in my warm and cosy room.
Just love that cosy feeling during winter.
Since I promised Yetti previously, I kept my promise and went out.

She came back a couple of weeks earlier to revise her Clinical stuff together with me which will start in September.
Both of us are really worried for our placement.
Therefore, we decided to start earlier and revise together so that we can graduate in 17th December 2008.
I actually can't wait for that day to come.

Anyway, let's go back to the topic.
After she arrived and settled down her stuff in FMC Flats,
we decide to take the earliest bus to Westfielf Marion Shopping Centre.
She needed to get some stuff and food from there.
Therefore, I kept her company.
When we went shopping, I bought a number of stuff from Gloss again.

My new bag - Amorni

Another week had passed. Michelle and I went shopping to Westfield Marion shopping centre once again. Today, the main aim of this trip was for her to get the stuff that she needs as she would be going over to Sydney from Tuesday (12.8.08) to Saturday (16.8.08). She wanted to get a bag to put in her laptop. Last week, we went shopping and she saw a bag that she liked. However, we didn't get it yet as she was still considering what bag she wanted to get. However, we walked around the shopping centre again. She bought the bag which she wanted in our previous trip. It costed AU$50.00.

However, we still walked around. We saw a shop called Sintra Marion. In that shop, many bags on sales. She bought another 2 small bags. Each costed AU$25.00. On the other hand, I purchased a bag (shown below). The bag is actually an Aussie brand bag, Amorni. I can use it for my work thereafter which my internship starts. I bought the bag at almost half price. Initially, it costed AU$69.95. However, it is only $39.00. I find it pretty useful as there are many pockets. I can also put my folders and other neccessities in there too.

After we purchased the bag, we went shopping again. I went to look at some other stuff. However, I am unable to get the stuff from Gloss which my friend wanted 3 items. I apologise for that though. The sales lady said that not all items shown in the website will be available in the shop. So I reckon you might need to look for some other stuff in future though.

Baked Caramel Baileys Triple Chocolate Cheesecake

It had been quite sometime since I last baked something. I would reckon it might be at least half a year since I last baked something. Recently, I have been craving for cheese cake. I wanted to make cheese cake wedneday. However, I have been really tired, busy with quite a lot of things and lacked of certain ingredients.

On thurday morning before I head out for my grocery shopping with Michelle, I searched on google websites for recipes on cheesecake recipe consisting of baileys and chocolates. I chose to bake this cake due to:
(1) I am a chocoholic.
(2) I have 2 bottles of baileys and I want to make a recipe out of my caramel baileys.
Therefore, I decided to bake cheesecake comprising of those 2 ingredients.

That afternoon, I went to Coles and got most of my ingredients. However, I did not write down the recipe on a piece of paper for my grocery list. I realized that I was missing one block of cream cheese for my cake. Hence, I can only make a cake using one block of philadelphia cream cheese. I combined a couple of recipes and came out with my recipes. It is my first time making a baked cheesecake. I used to make the other kind of cheesecake using gelatine. However, I wanted to do something different. Therefore, I decided to try the baking option this time. Anyway, here are the pictures.

It was quite a long wait (~1.5 hours) before my cake finally baked. However, I was impatient and try my new creation. Therefore, I cut my cake within 5-10 minutes after baking which I reckon there isn't sufficient time for it to cool down. The texture was very mashy and disgusting. I seriously think it is a flop. The first time I tried the cake, it had a very strong baileys taste. It might be the possibility of me not mixing evenly before I baked my cake. Or it might possible be due to the taste not settled down yet.

However, after a couple of hours cooling down in the fridge, the appearance seems to have improved. I am able to see 3 layers of the cake now. The taste is quite fantastic too. Simply love it. Neither too sweet nor having the strong baileys taste.

Next time, if I were to make another cheesecake, I reckon I might try to use the other method (frozen) cheesecake in future. It might possibly be a better option.

Class gathering

This wednesday (30th July 2008), I had Journal Club session again. I met up some of my classmate. However, before I left the school to head home, one of my classmate, Cher, organized a class dinner in the city at Wasai Japanese Resturant. The next day, I received an email from regarding the details of the restaurant.

Our appointment was at 7pm. However, I was a little late as I missed the 6.10pm bus number 212U. In the end, I realized the next bus was only at 7pm. Initially, I wanted to take a cab to Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) bus stop to catch another bus to the city. However, there were neither the cab was available nor any cab at all.

The weather is quite chilly (~14degrees or less). Luckily, I was warm in my winter clothes. However, I still waited for the bus. At 6.45pm, another bus came. It was the intended bus that I was taking. It stopped at bus stop number 30 before I walked to Main South Road to catch bus number 721. I reached Grote Street at around 7.15pm. When I arrived, I took a short walk to Field street. It isn't very difficult to find the place as there was a map provided in the email. I entered the restaurant and realized that I'd been there last year with my friends last year. But I didn't realized that it would be the exact same place.

From outside the shop, I wasn't able to see my classmates. Therefore, I called Cher. She told me she was at the back. When I walked in, I saw 7 of my classmates - Cher, Yee Chi, Tara, Wai Ping, Jean, George and Heath. Some of their food were served whereas Tara and Jean have not ordered theirs. I was confused of what to order. However, I ordered Sukiyaki, Tempura and rice (AU$1.50). The total cost for my dinner was AU$26.00. Anyway, here are the pictures of the 2 dishes (excluding rice).

After our dinner, we decided to have a cuppa before we head home. One of us decide on going to CIBO Expresso Cafe for cuppa. I've ordered a cup of hot chocolate as I heard many of my friends recommended the hot chocolate. After I ordered my drink, I realized that my drink was different from the recommended drink. It was dark hot chocolate. Anway, I still like my cup of hot chocolate. There are heaps of coco powder on top. It was great, neither too sweet or too bland. Here is the picture of it.

New Gloss items

It has been 2 weeks since I last went to do my grocery shopping.
Last week, I didn't reckon there was a need to go.
Hence, I stayed at home the entire week.

However, this week, Michelle and I decide to go grocery shopping.
I need to go to JB Hi-FI to ask about my redemption
for the Toshiba laptop which I got previously.
I've tried calling the shop many times but failed to contact any of the retailers.
I even left a message and asked for them to call back.
However, I reckon the shop must be pretty busy,
hence, there was no call back.

We arrived at Westfield Marion at ~2.30pm.
The first shop we went to was JB Hi-Fi.
We went to the shop to asked for the cashback redemption website which I bought my Toshiba laptop previously.
I managed to the website address at last.
Now, I got to mail it to the company and get my AU$100.
After that, Michelle and I walked around the shopping centre.
She haven't been shopping for quite a while we decide to shop around.
Once again, I decide to go to the shop, Gloss.
This time, I bought some new stuff again.
The shop are still on sales.
I've bought 5 items this time.

My pets in Singapore

In my previous blog, I had attached pictures of my 2 goldfish - Tazzy and Bamby, which are presently with me in Australia.

When I first bought them, they were really frightened. Whenever I place my hands near the tank or do anything which shakes my study table, they will swim around the tank crazily. However, they seem to be able to adapt to their environment much better now. When I place my hands near the fish tank, they will swim towards me and look very excited instead.

Previously, I didn't show you the food and tap water conditioner that I bought for them. Here are the pictures:

Anyway, in this blog entry, I will not describe so much about my 2 goldfish. Instead, I will tell you more about my other pets which I kept in Singapore. Many of them have been with us for quite sometime already. As I am in Australia now, my parents and sister, Grace will be the main people looking after them. In this blog, you will hear me mentioning about Grace frequently as most of the information provided by her when I am in Singapore.

In Singapore, I have 3 different pets.
Most of them have with my family for a couple of years.
They are:
(1) Lucky -Minature Pincher Toy Dog
(2) KiKi - Local Rabbit
(3) Twinkle - Sapphare Winter White Dwarf Hamster

Profile of the minature pincher (also known as Min Pin) breed:

History :
This breed is believed that the breed is evloved from the ancient German Pinscher family of dogs. In 1936, Dr. H. G. Reinchenbach, a German writer, stated the Miniature Pinscher is a cross of the Dachshund and the Italian Greyhound. This conclusion of Dr. Reinchenbach is now generally accepted by historians and those who have researched the background of the breed. In any event, Germany is undisputed as the home of origin, where the Miniature Pinscher was known as the "Reh Pinscher" due to its resemblance to a small red deer, the Reh, which freely roamed the German forests many years ago.

Average life Span:
14 - 17 years (Long-lived dogs)
Average Weight:
Usually weight about 8 - 11 pounds (if the dog is of the correct height)

Height:
Correct Minature Pinchers measure only ~ 10" to 12.5" at the shoulder.

Colour and Coat:
There are many colors. These include:
(1) Solid Clear Red
(2) Stag Red
(3) Black and Tan
(4) Chocolate and Tan

Grooming:
This breed has short coat, making grooming element minimal.
Give them a good, brisk brushing every couple of days to ensure that their coat are clean and shiny.
Toenails need to be trimmed at least every 2 weeks to avoid them from growing too long.
Frequent bathing is discouraged as it tends to dry out their coat. It is more preferred to use a warm, damp washcloth, using plain water and wipe the dog dog from the face (particularly the area under the eyes) down to the tail.
Ensure that the dog is completely dry before a trip outside if the weather is cold.

(1) Incredible escape artists - Very difficult to catch them back as they are fast runners.
(2) NEVER let be be off lead - They will chase anything that runs due to their high curiousity level.
(3) NOT for breeders who are beginners due to their high energy level.

In December 1998, my family and I went to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for a short weekend holiday. During that time, my family and I visited one of the pet shops in the chinatown of Kuala Lumpur.

When we entered the shop, we saw many different types of animals - cats, dogs, etc. Both Grace and I always wanted to own a dog as a pet. However, our parents disagreed to the idea. We wondered around in the pet shop and came across this breed (Minature Pincher). There were 2 of them - 1 female and 1 male. Both of them were of the same colours (Black and Tan) and small (size of our palm). Initially, both of us wanted a female breed but we only able to get Lucky instead. We pleaded our parents and after much persuasion, we finally succeeded. We were so excited and quickly went to ask the pet shop owner more details since both of us have no idea about the breed itself.

As there were 2 breeds, we wanted to purchase the female Min Pin. However, we were slightly late as one of the customer got her shortly after our parents agreed to it. In the end, we got our present dog, Lucky. We bought him many things - dog food, toys, etc. Pets in Malaysia was really cheap as compared to Singapore. He cost about RM$650. After getting all the necessities, the total cost was about RM$750. It is considered cheap as the breeds in Singapore are generally more expensive (minimal of SGD $800).

After purchasing Lucky we were really excited and delighted. We brought him around Kuala Lumpur. Many people asked us what we were holding. We told them that he is our precious doggy. Initialy, someone told us that he resembles a deer. We were surprized and laughed about he breed, we came across the history (described above) and there's acknowledgement for that too.

Anyway, Lucky has been with us for almost 10 years. I'm sorry that I do not have pictures of him when he is younger. However, the following pictures were taken recently by Grace.

KiKi

Anyway, now I shall talk about my second pet - KiKi. She is not our first rabbit which we own as a pet. I remembered that when I was a younger, I used to own plenty of them. Most of them were either a gift from my parents, friends or I purchased it myself. All of them varied in colours and sizes too. Anyway, it's time to go back to Kiki.

KiKi is a local breed (a mixture of breeds of rabbits) of rabbit which we bought her in Malaysia (Johor Bahru) at the cost RM$10 (~SGD$4.00). That is also considered very cheap as the usual cost of a local rabbit is about SGD$20 or more, depending on the breed, colour and gender of the rabbits.

We went to Johor Bahru for a short 1-day trip again. When we were there, we saw this pet shop selling many different animals - birds, rabbits, hamsters, mice, guinea pigs, etc. Initially, our plan was to purchase food and stuff for Lucky and Twinkle (details and pictures are shown below). We decide to buy KiKi too. There wasn't much persuasion needed as my mother also simply fell in love with KiKi too. She was simply adorable and cute. Among all the other rabbits, she was the smallest. I love her colour.

Anyway, Kiki is still considered as young for her age as she is about 1 - 2 years old. The average lifespan of a rabbit is 9 - 12 years old. When we first purchased KiKi, she was merely the size of a hand. However, she is much bigger in size now. She is a very obedient but yet timid rabbit. Sometimes she will hop around the house which makes her look as if she is dancing. That actually indicates that she is very happy. Anyway, the following pictures were taken when KiKi was still a baby bunny.

Profile of Russian Winter White Dwarf Hamsters

History:
Originates from Siberia, Manchuria and Mongolia. A robust, pretty little fellow compact and more 'rounded' than the Campbells. A Winter White hamster's head is longer and deeper than a Campbells’ with large eyes set closer to the ears than the nose, whereas the Campbells' eyes/ears are set at an equal distance. The breed has a thick black stripe down his back from head to tail and the contours of colouring are very clearly defined. His grey summer coat turns into white for winter in the wild , hence this name.

Average Lifespan:
18 - 20 months (but it can live longer)

Average Length:
8 - 10 cm (3" - 4") long

Personality:
Friendly
Outgoing
Easy to tame and handle

Phases (colouration):
There are several phases of Winter White hamsters:
(1) Normal (dark brownish-grey colouring
(2) Sapphire (blue-grey colouring)
(3) Pearl (white with coloured hair) - sometimes exists in either normal pearl or sapphire pearl.

The Winter White hamsters, also known as Siberian hamsters, can moult into a white winter coat. This camouflages them against the snow and hence their name.

This moulting is brought on by the amount of day light. If the hamster is kept in an enviroment with short duration of day light

Anyway, Twinkle is a female dwarf winter white sapphire hamster. I got her 2 years ago at Simei Pet Safari pet shop. Grace and I wanted a female dwarf hamster. However, we didn't want to keep 2 or more hamsters due to:
(1) Cost
(2) Having too many hamsters which will be very costly
(3) Prevents of injuries and deaths due to fights

Last time, I used to keep dozens of hamsters. I realized it is very costly and troublesome to keep too many as they multiplied very quickly within a short period of time. We faced many difficulties trying to give them away. Therefore, this time, we try to prevent such situations from happening and we got Twinkle.

When we went to the pet shop 2 years ago, there were many hamsters in the shop. Our aim was to look for a female dwarf winter white hamster. The pet shops have discounts for hamsters during that period of time. We bought her at SGD$8.00. We looked into the different tanks containing different types of drawf hamsters and saw Twinkle.

When we first saw her, we knew it instantly that she was a girl. The pet shop person told us that she was too active, hence nobody wanted to buy her. However, both Grace and I felt that she was really cute.

Before purchasing her, both of us wanted to determine her gender. As she is very active, I was quite terrified of her. I was afraid that she might bite me without any notice. However, I carefully tried to carry her from the cage and managed to discover her gender. After lifting her up from the cage, she was really cute. I wasn't that scared of her anymore as I knew that she was actually very scared of people as not many people had carried her before. It was then, we decided to buy her back as our pet.

As time passed by, she grew fatter. Both of us have no clue to why is that so. She enjoys running on her wheel. As what I had learnt before that exercise should keep one look lean and healthy. However, the ironic part is that Twinkle actually grew much fatter and rounder after quite sometime when she kept on running on her wheel. I realized that she simply loves her running wheel alot. She even slept in the wheel.

Previously, I'd owned so many hamster before. None of them have slept in such weird position. The following are pictures and videos of her in her favourite wheel.

Water Heater is Down!!!

When I woke up around 2pm today, Michelle told me that there was no hot water available at all. How are we going to shower in such a cold weather (~10 degrees)??

I had no idea how I was going to shower. I was chatting with one of my friend and told him about it. He suggested the traditional way - boiling water and mix it with cold water and shower with it. It is a good idea. I told Michelle about it. She told me that we wont be able to have any steam produced. Then I thought of another idea of using the heater to heat up the toilet before we shower so that we won't be freezing when we showered.

It was so troublesome to shower without having a heater in the house. I need to be really careful ensuring that I won't be splashing any water on the heater to prevent any electricity shock or short circuit. Since the owner (Danielle) is not around as she went back to Taiwan, we would have to use this method temporarily before we have any warm water again.

That evening, Geraldine came back from Singapore. She came back with her boyfriend after arrival into Adelaide. I told her about it and her boyfriend heard about it. I explained to the electrician, Tony, came over on Saturday to make some changes to the electricity switches as there seem to have so many problems when I just moved into the house. I reckon it was cause of overworking hence leading to the multiple short circuits. Anyway, Geraldine's boyfriend went outside to check out the switches in the electrity box and realized that the switch for the hot water was switched off. Therefore, he explained to me of what I can do in future if such matter happens again. I thanked him for helping us.

Anyway, I hope that we are able to use hot water tomorrow. I heard from Danielle previously that the hot water take almost 1/2 to 1 day to warm up all the water. Therefore, I hope that we are enjoy the hot shower once again. I would really appreciate the benefits of having hot water for showers again in such cold weather in Australia.

A week full of ups and downs

2 things that happened during this weekend which made me really tired but yet happy.

(1) Laptop

My laptop crashed!!!!!!!!!

On friday (18 July 2008), I was chatting with my friends via msn and IRC. Suddenly, my screen blacked out. I totally have no idea what happened. I thought that it had automatically shut off. However, I was able to see an outline of the things on the screen but I still have no idea what actually happened. So I restarted the computer.

Initially, the start up went pretty well until when it reached the desktop. It suddenly blacked out again. I totally have no idea what actually happened. That's really bad as I still have other school work to do. I wasn't able to do anything much at all.

I quickly packed my laptop into the bag, went to shower and quickly rushed out to meet my housemate, Michelle in school for my weekly grocery shopping. I wouldn't want to miss the bus as the transport system in Adelaide doesn't come as often as Singapore. I wasn't able to contact Michelle too as her phone credit was out so I had to meet her in school at the appointed time.

When I reached school, I told Michelle about my laptop. She is a very nice lady and accompanied me to the computer shop to check out what happened to my laptop.

When I was at the computer shop, I explained to the computer technician about it. I also told him about my screen being 'red-lighted' during the early stage of starting up. Initially, I thought it might be something wrong with my eyes when I wake up. However, it doesn't seem to be case. It seems to be the same problem thereafter. As a computer idiot, I have no idea what does that mean and I wasn't really concern until friday when the screen suddenly turned black.

Without any further ado, I decided to show it to him of what I was trying to say as actions speak louder than words. However, my laptop didn't have the black-out symptoms again other than the red-lighted screen during start-up. It started up all the way till the desktop and I was able to see everything. WHAT THE HELL!!! I was freaking pissed at my laptop. But I thought it is a sign of relief that things are going fine.

The technician tried to plug another screen to ensure that things went fine. NOTHING happened. He explained to me that it might possibly be my motherboard which have some problem. He said that if I were to get the laptop fixed, I would need to pay at least AU$1000 to get a new motherboard. I was wondering if that really happened, I might as well get a new laptop which can be slightly a little more than getting a new laptop.

After that, I took the bus to the city with Michelle. I jokingly told her "I reckon the computer was too afraid of the 'doctor' so it was being very good at the shop. So I continued to do my grocery shopping.

When I got home, I decide to try out the laptop once again. This time, the same thing happened again. What the freaking shit!! I wasn't able to do anything. I tried calling my good friend in Singapore and asked for her opinion. However, her husband and her told me that it might possible be the screen or the motherboard is faulty. He said that if it is the screen, it might possible be the at least $500 so he advised me to get a new laptop. Before purchasing my new laptop, I called my dad and got approval from him to buy a new laptop.

The next day (Saturday), I woke up early and went out to Westfield Marion shopping centre to go and look out for my new laptop. I went to JB-High-FI and all other computer shops. I couldn't really decide on what I wanted to get. As a computer noobster, I just went to see what is within my budget and also with the specs that I wanted.

I was super tired and hungry. I wasn't able to eat breakfast before leaving the house as there was no hot water as the electrician came to my house in the morning to fix the houses fuses which had some many problems in the past month.

After much dilema, I decided to purchase my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A300) which costed AU$1600 (after conversion is SGD$2200). I was told by a saleman that Acer brand is not that recommended as compared to other brands. So I decide to choose this as I won't want anything to happen within a short period of time.

I faced another problem. I tried to pay my laptop via my EFPOST (also known as paid by NET). I weren't able to pay everything at one goal. I tried using my credit card but I can't use it at all. I reckon it might possibly be due to over usage for my family members' December air ticket to Melbourne.

I started to freak out. I wanted to get my laptop by Saturday so that
(a) I would be able to download whatever neccesary documents and able to get my school work done for my weekly Wednesday Journal Club or Critical Review sessions.
(b) Save the trouble of travelling to Marion Shopping Centre numerous times.

After cooling down a little, I managed to think of ways to pay the full amount on the same day. as I don't want to travel to and fro repeatedly. I went running around Marion Shopping centre and withdrew $1000 from my ANZ machine. I was wondering how can I try to get the remaining AU$600. I tried to borrow from my friends or even my housemate but I failed. In the end, I rememebered that ANZ bank operates on Saturday but I was unsure of the operating hours. So I ran to the bank hopping that the bank won't close as it was getting quite late (around 3-4pm). For those who don't know the operating hours of shops in Austrlia, they closes very early at around 5pm unlike Singapore. To my relief, it was opened when I went to the bank. So I hurried back to the shop to purchase my laptop.

At last, I bought a new laptop. I am really happy with my laptop. I continued with my shopping before I head home.

(2) My pets - 2 Goldfish

After shopping for my laptop, I walked around Marion Shopping Centre and bought my 2 goldfish (Tazzy and Bamby). I always wanted a pet during my stay in Australia. I was contemplating on what I want as a pet. In the end, I decided to get these 2 goldfish as my pet as I wanted some life in my room other than the computer itself.

Tazzy and Bamby are so cute. I reckon it is also a good thing for me to look at them after looking at the screen for a long period of time. Good for my eyes too. I heard from Michelle that looking at a fish would be a good way of relaxing at my eyes after looking at the screen for a long period of time. Before she told me this, I actually had heard about it before so I decide to buy them instead of any other pet. I considered many factors and therefore buying fish is much better for me when I am in Australia as I would be going back to Singapore at the end of the year.

I bought these 2 goldfish because
(1) Cheap
(2) I would be able to pass it to my housemate at the end of the year
(3) No problems of me actually sending them back to Singapore as there will be many difficulties.

I spent quite a bit for them. In total it costed ~AU$33.00:

Both Tazzy and Bamby are so cute. Initially, when I first purchased them, they are so afraid. Any movement that I did (e.g. putting my hands near the tank), they would be so frightened and started swimming around the tank that make them look as if they are crazy . After a few days, they are able to recognize my hands. So cute. Too bad I am unable to carry them up just like my other pets which I have.

Anyway, I am glad that I got the 2 of them. Both of them are able to to entertain me a little and keep me company while I am in Australia.

So far that is the only thing which seem to be a good news.

Today, I went grocery shopping with Michelle again at Westfield Marion Shopping Centre.

This week, I bought something which I haven't been buying for quite a while.
It is something which I craved for ever since I came back from Port Augusta.
A milky sweet alcoholic drink with 3 different flavours.
(1) Irish cream.
(2) Mint
(3) Caramel

3 Different flavours of Baileys

Yes, it is Baileys if you got it right.

I was telling Michelle that I would be getting my bottle of baileys today when we were on our bus to Marion shopping centre.
After our grocery shopping, I remembered that I wanted to get my baileys.
Therefore, I went to Woolworths Liquor.

When I entered, I saw baileys being displayed on the counter. It was very prominent.
I saw the price of it.
It is quite cheap.
There is discount too.
1 bottle costs $AU 32.00
2 bottles cost AU$54.00

I pondered for a while and decided to get 2 bottles:
(1) Baileys Mint 700ml
(2) Baileys Caramel 700ml

Now I am sipping my glass of caramel bailey.
Cold, sweet and milky alcoholic drink.
Simply heavenly.
Love it to the max.

Critical Review Presentation

Today (9 June 2008, Wednesday) is the day where I have to do a presentation for my Critical Review (CR).

The Study Topic: "Fruits and Colorectal Cancer"

I need quite alot of time do to my research and write up.
However, I completed my CR slides in less than 12 hours.
It is actually quite competent.
This is one of the few times where I really feel quite competent.

I woke at this morning at around 3-ish am.
No mood to do my work.
But I have to force myself to do it no matter what.
I toasted some toasts with jams for breakfast before I start doing my slides.

Time to start working.
I reckon I did my introduction slides pretty well.
Heaps of interesting pictures, short and simple words. Easy to read.
I timed myself all the time for each section so that I can complete my stuff on time.
However, time passed. It was near noon.
My presentation starts at 3.45pm.
I started to panicked.
I was having some headache with critique of my 5 articles which I read much earlier.
I have no idea what to do.
However, I went through my notes and remembered some stuff and started working.
I am still a little confused of how to critique articles.
I really am bad at such stuff.
I tried to cool myself down a little.
Deep breathes.
It really helped me to cool down quite a bit.
Good.
Time to continue my slides again.

I knew that I would be late.
I also knew that I will miss the bus at 3.10pm.
At around 2.30pm, I called for a taxi to be outside my house at 3.30pm.

However, I am the one who was late as I was printing my notes for my presentation.

When I was in the cab, the traffic was quite bad.
All the traffic were red.
What the hell!!!
Here I am rushing for time.
The traffic is still red.
I should have asked the cab driver to drive the other way
so there isn't too many traffic lights.
However, it is too late now.
I am late for my presentation.
Sighs.
The worse thing is that I still need to go to the main office at G-flats to collect my summaries.
The summaries are to be distributed to my classmates.
Luckily, there were a few others on that day.
So they presented it first.
After the 2 presenters, it was my turn.
Worried. Terrified. Anxious.
Those are the 3 words I would describe my feelings.
However, I went up to the stage worrying that my slides are not compatible with the microsoft.
Hence, I apologised prior to my presentation.
Previously, there were some simliar problems of the uncompatible microsoft program.
Fortunately, things were fine.
I am more settled down.
More relaxed too.
I was able to present my stuff well too.
I completed my slides with a little time exceeded.
However, it is all over now.
Time for the questions and answer session.
I asked the class.
Nobody had any question for me at all.
Weird.
I wonder why.
There are 2 possibilities:
(1) Everybody understand what I said and have no question
or
(2) They want to go back as soon as possible (as I am the last presenter)
Hmmm.
I have no idea at all.
But it doesn't matter now.
My presentation is over.
I really feel quite competent for now.

Now it is time for me to start writing on my 3000 words report which is to be handed up 6 weeks later.
I shall go back and read up on my articles and notes again.

Today is the third time I had been to Westfield Marion Shopping Centre since I came back from Port Augusta.

This week, I'm not alone. My housemate, Danielle is a kinda and nice lady. She gave me a lift and we reached there at around 2pm. Since the Australian Mid Year Sales is still on, we decided to go on our separate ways and meet up once again at 6pm.

Shortly after we went on our separate ways, I walked around and saw one shop called Gloss. The shop sells many different kind of fashion accessories. I remembered that most of my cosmestics are near to date of expiry. Therefore, I decided that I need to get some more new cosmetics.

Today, I went shopping at Westfield Marion Shopping.

Australian Mid Year Sales is on NOW!!

I walked around the shopping centre, there were so many places on sales. I have no clue what to buy. My initial intention was to do my weekly grocery shopping as I just arrived Adelaide not long ago.

Since I have time, I decided to walk around the shops to see what is might be cheap buys and nice too.

As I walked around, I decided to enter Diva. I saw there were so many jewelleries on sales too. I walked around and saw one corner where they were selling many discounted necklaces and earrings.

I was wondering, since by the end of the year, I would be getting christmas presents for my friends, I might as well get them now. Isn't that a good idea? Hehe.

So I slowly selected my gifts. I couldn't really make up my mind of what to get. So I was considering what are my friends' characters, favourite colours and also their favourite shapes too. It was after some considerations that I decided to purchase some of the items.

After I purchased them, I decided to walk around the shop a little before going to either Coles or Woolies to do my grocery shopping.

When I got home, I realized that I took a look at them again. I really like the designs of some of them. However, I still made up my mind that I shall not keep them as they are meant for my friends.

I will not be providing the price of these jewelleries as some of you might be my friends which I will be giving too.

2nd Month Anniversary

is our second month anniversary of Jack and I being together.

Both Jack and I had agreed to give each other gifts every month (if possible).
Therefore, I received this precious gift from him.
From what I understand, it is actually a VERY expensive gift from him (at least it is to me).

I heard from others telling me that he had some difficulties trying to search for this gift and the shop in Vivocity.
As many of you should know that Vivocity is complex with so many buildings and shops too.
I am unsure of how long he took to find that shop before he finally find the shop and the gift.
However, I really appreciate his sincerity and time too.
Love you heaps, dear.

One day, while chatting in msn, he told me that he already purchased my gift.
During our webcam session, he showed me the receipt of his purchase.
I saw a a 3 digit number.
Initially, I thought that was change of the gift.
However, he told me that it was the cost of the gift instead.
I was shocked of the price when I know about it. It was SGD$150.
For me, I would consider that as anything above $50 as costly as I am not earning my own income at the moment.

Anyway, the cost of the gift is not as important as meaning behind the chain.
The chain is made of white gold.
There are 3 symbols - Heart, Circle and teardrop.
He chose the pendent to be blue as it is one of my favourite colour.
The circle of the chain is made of tiny clusters of diamonds.
Both the teardrop and heart are made of topaz (gemstone).

White gold chain represents "Purity".

My new watch

Today is my another day of grocery shopping. I went to Westfield Marion Shopping centre in the afternoon alone. It had been ages since I went there. Hmmm... Let me think. I would reckon it was about 4 months since I last been there. As I was back in Singapore on 5 February 2008 till 17 April 2008 for my Independent Studies (part of my bachelor degree), was in the city of Adelaide for a couple of days before I went over to Port Augusta from 20 April till 6 June 2008 for my Community/Public Health Placement, thus it would be around 4 months since I last been there.

My new Watch

Today, I walked past a stall selling watches. I decided to buy a new watch. I recalled my old watch (a pair of couple 25-hours brand watches, which I'd got for my ex-boyfriend and myself years ago) was spoilt. I still use this watch as it was of good quality rather than having feelings for my my ex-boyfriend. I've moved on ages ago (to be exact my heart gave up on him on the day we broke off). Although there were good and bad memories, I would just treat it as an experience in my love life.

Anyway, old watch was spoilt. The glass of the watch cracked when I was in Port Augusta. When I was doing some readings at home in Port Augusta, the glass panel of the watch fell off suddenly. Initially, I had no clue what was that transparent circular glass panel. I looked around the place and realized that it was from my watch. During that time, I felt quite uncomfortable as I usually use my watch more often than my mobile phone. However, I had to solely rely to my mobile phone to keep track of time. I went to the only repair shop in Port Augusta to try to get it fixed. However, the person said that it would cost me at least AU$30 for the plastic like panel or AU$60 for the glass panel. He said that my watch was of a good quality, hence getting the glass panel for the watch would be worth the price.

I remembered very clearly that I actually went to repair the glass before coming back to Australia early this year. It cost me less than SGD$20 to change the battery and glass panel of the watch. However, the cost of the repair for a watch in Australia is so expensive. Hence, I decide to send my watch to Jack to ask him to help me get my watch fix in Singapore. *Thanks dear. Muacks*

Anyway, it doesn't matter to me now. I've got a new watch. I simple love it. The watch has white leather stripes, stainless steel and has some handmade diamonds on the side of the watch too. The watch costed AU$20. An extra battery was provided and there was a one year guarantee too.

My experiences at Flinders Rangers & Wilpena Pound in South Australia (Part 1)

During my placement in Port Augusta, I went for a birthday celebration. That night, I met up with some colleagues who were working in Port Augusta, and they told me about the weekend outing to Flinders Rangers and Wilpena Pound. The dates for the outing were 31st May to 1 June 2008. The main organizer was Jennifer Davison, who is a psysiotherapist working in Port Augusta Hospital.

Initially, I hestitated about the outing as I had been there with my 2 other friends 2 years ago However, after much considerations, I decided to go there again. The reasons were:
(1) Able to make new friends
(2) Take a break and have a short holiday
(3) Different experiences with different group of people
(4)Take pictures as memories as none was taken previously
(5) Something out of my normal schedule (staying at home)

Journey to Flinders Rangers

On 31st May 2008 (Saturday), all 8 of us (Jennifer, Alanna, Rebecca, Leah, Natelie, Alison, Elizabeth and I ) gathered at Rebecca's house. We made arrangements for our carpool and left her house shortly at around 9am.

About an hour later, we arrived Copley and went into Quandong cafe and Bush Bakery for our breakky (Aussie term for breakfast). In the cafe, I ordered my breakky which consisted of bacon, eggs, tomato, toasts & a cup of flat white coffee. The total cost was AU$15.00. We departed at ~10.30am aFter our breakky and continued our journey to our accomodation.

The Copley Bush Bakery & Quandong Cafe is a popular meeting place at the gateway to the Flinders Ranges and the Outback Tracks. The Cafe serves gourmet pies and pasties and Quandong pies that are so good they are exported to other restaurants in the Flinders Ranges and Outback region. There are a wide range of quandong products for sale including jams, desert sauce and meat sauces plus fresh baked goods.

Rawnsley Bluff Caravan Park

Prior to this outing, not much details were provided about the accomodation other than the costs and type of accomodation booked for our stay in Flinders Rangers. However, while travelling to our accomodation, I had an extremely strong intuition that I would be staying in the exact same place which I stayed 2 years ago.

I recalled in december 2006, I came with 2 of my friends for our holiday at Flinders Rangers. During our holiday, it was an extremely hot summer with at least 40 degrees celsius. It was so hot that our air-conditioner in the cabin broke down during our stay and we had to tolerate and suffer with such weather for those few days. Additionally, I had sun burnt too though I applied sun-block lotion. I can still recall the scotching burning sensation of the sunlight on my skin.

However, my trip to Flinders Rangers this time is different. The weather is just the total opposite of what I experienced previously. It was much cooler with with a temperature of at least 14 degrees celsius. during the daytime.

Shortly later (at ~10.30am), we arrived Flinders Rangers. I looked around the environment and realized that the place seemed to be very familiar. I pondered for a while until I noticed a sign board (shown below). However, I was still uncertain if I would be staying in the same place as I used to previously. It was only till when we arrived Rawnsley Bluff Caravan Park that it is positive that I stayed there previously.

At Rawnsley Bluff Caravan Park, a few of us went into the reception area, we confirmed and paid for our booked accomodations. We were allocated to the 1st 2 cabins. It was such a coincident that I stayed in the second cabin previously too. It was really unexpected for me though.

Anyway, we stayed in 2 self-catering cabins, comprising of 5-in-1 room and 4-in-1 room. The park cabin units each have kitchen facilities and communcal bathroom faciliaries. It was able to accomodate 2 to 6 people in each unit. Each of us paid AU$25.00 instantly at our arrival.

Concurrently, for those who were interested in horse riding, we were required to make payments our 2-hours horse riding session. Therefore, we booked the session to be at 3.15pm on the same day.

There are a different options for the horse riding sessions. However, for this trip, we booked the 2-hours horse riding session which costed $70.0. Previously, my friends and I took applied for the 1/2 day horse riding session. The cost was slightly higher than the 2-hour session.

Furthermore, we were also required to make dinner reservations if we were interested at Rawnsley Bluff Woolshed Restaurant in the reception area. In the end, we booked our dinner reservations at 6.30pm.

As there was still time before our horse riding session, all of us decided to go for a pleasant and short bushwalk in Flingers Rangers National Park. It last .about 2 hours. While walking, we came across a kangaroo which was relaxing under the sun.

Horse Riding

The receptionist told us that we were required to arrive early for our horse riding session. She told us to be at a place near the Rawnsley Park Woolshed Restaurant. As the instructions provided was a little unclear, we weren't able to find the venue. As I had been there before, I was somehow able to recall the venue. However, the place was slightly different from 2 years, I had to merely use my memory to determine the place. However, to prevent any delay of the event, we decide to check it out with the information centre of the exact venue for the horse riding session. Finally, we arrived at our destination but we were punctual.

At our arrival, a young lady told to sign a consent form and to provide information of our horse riding experiences. She also assigned us to our respective horses. Amongst the 8 of us, Leah, Jennifer, Natelie, Alison, Alanna and I joined the horse riding session whereas Rebecca and Elizabath went back to the accomodation to chill out while waiting for us.

By the end of our horse riding session, all of us were tired and cold due to the cold weather. Although I wore 2 jackets, I was still feeling very cold during my whole horse riding experience. I reckon the most obvious was Jennifer whereby her lips was quite blueish by the end of the day.

At the end of the day, we had a discussion and concluded that the horses were not well-trained and the young girl who was leading us wasn't really experienced herself too.

After our horse riding session, we went back to our cabins for a while before heading to the Woolshed Resturant. There was a fireplace in the restaurant and many of us went over to keep ourself warm. Once again, I went in there previous for dinner with my other 2 friends. The restuarant is 2 kilometers away from where we resided during our stay.

As I'd been there before, I'd decided to get something which would be different from what I usually eat at home. I ordered Kangaroo Fillet, Soup of the day and shared Winter Creek 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Adelaide Hills. The total costs was $45.00.

This dish is simply delicious. The kangaroo meat is tender and juicy while the potatoes were baked till it was very crispy. I simply love the potatoes alot. How I wish I could have it now. Simply mouth watering.

Soup of the Day - Homemade sweet potato (AU$9.00)

This soup had cream served together with it. However, I forgot to take the picture prior to stiring the cream in. The dish was very pleasantly presented unlike this picture which is shown here. The taste of the food is good too. Very thick and sweet soup. You should try it if you have the chance.

The wine which we shared was simply fantastic. I will get one bottle of that wine myself at the end of the year. It is a sweet wine. The taste is simply balanced. Not too sweet for me nor was it sour at all as compared to other 'sweet' wine.

This damper tasted really good. I simply love it alot. It is a traditional food which the Aboriginal people eats. I reckon maybe I should learn how to make it one day.

At the end of the day, we gathered in our cabins and chatted throughout the night till bedtime. I really enjoyed myself that day though I was very quiet there most of the time.

My stay in Port Augusta is a good one.

Although this place is very laid back, I really enjoy myself alot.
I know quite a number of people during my stay in Port Augusta.
Most of my weekends, I would be spending my time at home as I don't really have a car or any form of transportation (other than taxi which is extremely costly). Therefore, I would be at home most of the time.

One of the weekends, one of my colleagues asked me to join them to chill out together. However, before I start telling you all about my experiences about the place, I shall give you an introduction of the place.

My 1st time in Hotel Augusta

As I mentioned earlier, one of my colleagues asked me to join her and the rest of the company to chill out and play pool together. She is Leah. She works in Flinders and Far North Community Health Services.

I got really excited and thrilled.
At last, I am able to start socializing again.
It is really very boring to stay at home all day long after work
with limited friends and things to do.

The first time I went to Hotel Augusta was on 9th May 2008 (friday).
During work, Leah told me to get ready by 7-ish pm.

At around 7.30pm, Leah messaged me over the phone and told me to get ready as Jennifer, Natelie and her would be waiting outside my house and we'll share a cab over to Hotel Augusta.

When we arrived, we decide to chill out.
We bought our drinks.
That night, I ordered Baileys, which is my favourite alcoholic drink. I paid about AU$10 for that small tiny little glass. I am really upset. Initially, I thought that it would be much more. However, the quantity that they gave me was even lesser than the picture that I show you below.

Anyway, back to my story. We sat down, chit chat a while before we start to play pool.
It has been ages since I last played pooled. The last time I played it was with a couple of good friends when I was in Singapore.

That night, there were many people playing pool. While waiting for our turns for the pool, Rebecca came in. She joined us for a chat. We waited for a while before we can start our first pool game.

My first time in Port Augusta was a pleasant night. All we did was sit down and chat a couple of hours before we started playing pool. By the end of the day, Rebecca sent us home and we got back around 10-ish to 11pm. We didn't want to stay too late as there was programme (Lawn bowling, rodeo and symphony) the next day.

The 2nd time I went there was today.
We (Jennifer, Natelie, Leah, Rebecca and I) went to the cafe to celebrate Lisa's Birthday.
We had our dinner there.
I ordered mixed grill for dinner. It is a tender mixture of:
(1) Scotch Fillet
(2) Lamb Chops
(3) Sausages
(4) Tomato
(5) Bacon
(6) Eggs
Additionally, I also ordered soup of the day, which is pumpkin soup.
The mixed grill costs AU$21.50 whereas the soup costs AU$5.90.
The soup was of a thick mixture which makes us kind of bloated.
However, I was still able to finish my main meal
as our main meal was not served till a while later.

After our dinner, we went over to the counter to get some drinks before we head over to play some pool again. However, this time, I didn't get the same drink. I bought something else instead due to my disappointment previously.

After a while, some guy came over and started getting friendly with us.
Leah and I suspected that he was trying to hook one of us up.
However, we were not really sure of his words.
There were some contradictions to his words.
We were very skeptical of him.
Firstly, he introduced himself as a person who came out from jail.
Then he changed his identity to his friends were the one who came out from jail.
Some of my friends actually tried asking him what he was working.
However, he kept on changing his job.
We asked about where he came from etc.
He also didn't really want to tell us stuff too.
Since he wanted to play with us, we did the same thing too. Hahaha.
We tell them that we were all doctors.
But all different kind of doctors though.
Although all of us were of Allied Health Professionals,
we told him jobs which were different from our real job.
We made up positions such as dietitician, podiatrist, paeditrician, nurses, etc.
However, some of our jobs were real. But he is unable to know.
But it doesn't matter at all.
He requested us to join his friends at another table before he went over to get some drinks.
After a while, he actually came back with some beers.
One of my friends were very playful and asked:
"Before we decide to go over to your table, you have to guess where we come from. If you are able to guess it. We would join you. If not, I shall take your beer."
3 chances were given to him. However, he was unable to guessed it.
So my friend actually took that drink instead.
However, she isn't that bad. She still went over to the other table to join them for a chat.
The rest of us decided to play some games of pool instead.
We played a couple of games before heading over to Lisa's house to chill out that night.

1st Month Anniversary

1st anniversary of Jack and I being together.
However, I am unable to celebrate our first month together
as I am far far away from him in Australia whereas he is in Singapore.
Although we are far apart from each other, we really miss each other alot.
I reckon it's true about the idiom:

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

One month had passed.
Time really pass very quickly when one is busy.
This morning, one of the staff told me that there was a parcel for me.
I quickly went to the counter and realized that it was the gift which Jack sent me.
Excited and delighted as I felt.
The first gift which he sent me from Singapore.
A gift to remember our 1st month anniversary.
Something for me to remember about him.
He bought this gift from precious moments.
It is a really fragile gift.
I am really afraid of breaking it,
as there is a glass panel with special words saying:

Both of them are white Australian Caucasians from Adelaide.

Lucy

She is my my classmate in my course. She is doing the same project as me for my Community / Public Health Placement.
She just recently celebrated her birthday, hence she is 21 years old. I reckon she had heaps of fun in Adelaide when she went back a couple of weeks ago.

I really enjoyed my company with her.

She is my other housemate.
She is a student nurse, studying in University of South Australia (UniSA).
Needs to work shifts during her 8 weeks placement in Port Augusta, hence she need to wake up very early in the morning at times.
Sometimes, she will return to Adelaide when she has off days.

Elizabeth Terrace

On 11 May 2008 (Sunday), Alison invited some of my colleagues (Natelie, Leah, Jennifer and Rebecca) and I to her place for an early barby (also known as BBQ or barbeque) session. AT around 10.30am, I took a 5 minutes short walk to her place from Miles Street. We had bacons, eggs, toasts and beverages (juices, coffee and tea) with numerous sauces.

The BBQ bread was slightly different from the normal toasts. The bread was on the BBQ pit and a hole was made in the centre of bread. An egg was cracked in the centre and cooked. The centre of the toasts were still being BBQ for consumption later.

After our brunch, all of us (including Alison's family and fiance) sat down and chit chat a little before going on our separate ways. Instead of going home straight away, I walked over to the reception area of Port Augusta Hospital (PAH) to get my keys for my new place at Elizabeth Terrace.

Both Lucy and I were asked to leave our place at Miles Street to Elizabeth Terrace. They emailed my supervisor, Camilla Leaver, to pass us the message about the shifting of our place. The reason behind it was that a family is going to stay in the birthing place. We were required to shift out of the house by 11 May 2008 as they need to clean up the house before the family move into the place.

At the reception counter, I collected the keys for our new place (Elizabeth Terrace) for Lucy and I. After collecting the keys, I took a picture of the main road (Hospital Road) which leads to Port Augusta Hospital.

This is a road sign which I saw is different from Singapore. As Port Augusta is a countryside place, the road sign seems different from which I saw from Adelaide too.

It was my first time seeing such a road sign. I had never come across such a road sign in my life. Maybe I have been staying in a city area in all my life. Hence, this is my first time seeing such an old-fashioned road sign. You can call me "Sua Ku" (hokkien version of 'mountain tortoise') or being silly for being amused by such small stuff, but I won't be bothered as this is really my first time seeing it.

Miles Street

That day, we only started shifting our luggages from around 9pm as Lucy wasn't in Port Augusta. She always go back to Adelaide during every weekends (about 3-4 hours drive from Port Augusta to Adelaide or vice versa).

After Lucy came back from Adelaide, we started packing our stuff in our rooms and our food. Many multiple trips were required as Lucy's car was not that big and we've got heaps of things too. It was really a hassle.

After entering the house at Elizabeth Terrace, I actually prefer the house at Miles Streets instead. The reasons were:
(1) The floor was not fully carpeted (makes alot of noise when I walk around the house)
(2) Limited kitchen appliances
(3) No dryer (to dry our clothes)

However, I shouldn't complain so much because the accommodation was:
(1) temporary stay
(2) Free of charge

Therefore, I should be satisified with the things I have. Anyway, before I shifted over to Elizabeth Terrace, many of the stuff in my workplace did told me that I shouldn't be giving too much hope as we are considered lucky to stay in Miles Street. Indeed, I am really lucky to have the chance to stay in Miles Street. Not many people who work there actually have the chance to stay there.

Upon entering the house, it was the living room. Both Lucy and I always watch "Big Brother" on TV every weekdays and Sunday evenings.

The following pictures are of Elizabeth Terrace. The whole living room and 3 bedrooms are all furnished with a reversible heater/air-conditioner. Each bedroom only have 2 beds and a side table.

During my 7 weeks stay in Port Augusta, both Lucy and I had discussed to share cooking during weekdays. Since I am unfamiliar with the Australian culture and food, I was keen and interested in learning about them. Therefore, I brought up the idea of share cooking. I am really interested (still am) to try new foods which is different from my culture. On the other hand, she was also able to try the different kind of foods that we Singaporeans eat too.

After one night, I realized that my sleep wasn't that good. It was due to the squeaky noise which the floor make. I reckon I am not the only person. Lucy herself also faced the same problem. However, it is worse for her as she is nearer to the bathroom. She can hear the loud shower sound when someone shower.

Anyway, it is time to go now. I reckon that is all I will be updating you about this time. Oh ya.
I forgot to tell you all about a tube top which I bought.
I got it from one of the shop called Uptown Girl.

I really like this top alot.
What I love the design of the top.
Very simply but yet it is sweet.
Hope you ladies out there would love it too.
Anyway, this top is not that costly.
It costs about AU$15.
Cheap isn't it?
I didn't really expect myself to get anything at all.
But this is worth it.
I can wear it to work too. Hehehe..

A busy Saturday in Port Augusta

It was a enjoyable but tiring day today. I did heaps of things which I'd never done it when I was in Singapore.

Today, I would be talking about my experiences on what I did on that day:
(1) Lawn Bowling
(2) Rodeo
(3) Symphony under the Stars

Lawn Bowling

We started our Saturday morning with friendly lawn bowling game which started at about 10 A.M.. We played it in Lawn Bowl club in Port Augusta.

Previously, when I was walking to Marion Shopping Centre which is situated in Adelaide (a 40-60 minutes walk from my school), I used to walk past the lawn bowling field. Sometime, I would see many Australians playing lawn bowling. I would just stand outside and was really curious about the rules of the game.

Finally, I had my chance of learning how to play lawn bowling. I was really excited. It was my first time playing it. It was quite fun too.

For those who have no idea what lawn bowling is about, I will give you a short background of lawn bowling.

Background of Lawn Bowling

Bowls (also known as Lawn Bowls or Lawn Bowling) is a precision sport in which the goal is to roll slightly radially asymmetrical balls (called bowls) closest to a smaller white ball (the "jack" or "kitty" or "sweetie").

Lawn bowls are available in different sizes with a mid sized men's bowl being between 116mm and 131mm in diameter. They are made of a hard plastic material which is able to withstand the constant contact between bowls during play. Their weight should not exceed 1.59kg.

"Jack", "Kitty" or "Sweetie"

Bowls were once only available in either black or brown colours. However, they are a variety of colours including a range of fluorescent hues. As you can see, there is a unique symbol markings engraved on the bowl. It was meant for identification as many bowls either look similiar or has the same colours.

Lawn bowling can be played either outdoors or indoors. Bowling Green is a large, rectangular, precisely leveled and manicured grass or synthetic surface known as Bowling Green which is divided into parallel playing strips called rinks.

My first throw

As you can see from the picture, the bowl was pretty close to the white ball which is considered a good bowl. I was really excited about my first throw, hence I decided to take a picture of it.

Lunch

After our lawn bowling, we went shopping (for clothes and grocery for the day's events) and lunch. We had our lunch at Hot Peppers where I had quiche with chips & salad. After our lunch, we went to Natelie's house to put down our groceries before heading for our Rodeo event.

Rodeo

We went for my first rodeo experience at around 330pm. We need to pay an entry fee of about A$20. I had no idea what to expect from it as it was my first experience.

Rodeo is a sport which which arose out of the working practices of cattle herding. At the event, I realized that it was a sporting event which consisted of several different timed and judged events that involve cattle and horses, designed to test the skill and speed of the cowboys/cowgirls athletes who had signed up to participate in the sport.

Upon entry to the area, I took some pictures of the venue.

As the event started earlier and we arrived slightly later, we only saw a few events which include

(1) Barrel racing

The barrel racing event is a timed-speed and agility event.

In the barrel race, horse and rider gallop around a clover leaf patterns of barrels, making agile turns without knocking the barrels over within a period as short as possible.

(2) Steer wrestling

Steer wrestling is also known as bulldogging whereby the rider was suppose to jump off his/her horse onto a steer and wrestles it to the ground by grabbing it by its horns. In the event, it was observed to be the most physically dangerous event as the cowboy might possibly of either a high risk of jumping off a running horse with his head first and missing the steer or having the thrown steer land on top of him or the horns first.

(3) Roping

In the timed-roping event, it involved the cowboy capturing the calves and adult cattle by using the rope.

(4) "Rough Stock" competition

In the "Rough Stock" competition, there are a few events which include

(a) Bronc Riding

The riders are only allowed to hang onto a bucking horse (popular myth that the "broncs" are wild horses but in fact they are commonly spoiled riding horses or horses bred specifically as bucking stock) for as long as possible, which is called Bronc riding.

(b) Bull riding

The cowboys are suppose to ride on a full-grown bulls instead of horses. The danger of this event is higher than the Bronc riding event because the bull are unpredictable and may attack the fallen rider. There was a Rodeo clown (also known as Bullfighter) whereby his work was to distract the bull to prevent the bull rider competitors from getting injured.

Symphony Under the Stars

After our Rodeo events, we went to Nat's place to grab our picnic goodies for the next event which is Symphony under the stars. The event was situated at Fairway One of the Port Augusta Golf Course set against the breathtaking views of the Flinders Ranges and started at 7pm. The 4 of us (Jennifer, Natelie, Leah and me) decided to reach there earlier so we shared a cab together to the venue.

When we arrived, the place was already very crowded but luckily our friends arrived earlier and reserved a good place for us.

We all gathered together and had our dinner under the stars while enjoying our symphony. Most of the foods were food usually eaten by the Aussie. During that night, I shivered in cold initially. Luckily, Leah brought a blanket where we shared it together. It felt much better after that and enjoyed myself throughout.

Halfway throughout the symphony, there was a toilet break. I didn't expect that the toilet was in a truck until I saw a long queue of people. Only till then that I realized that it was a portable toilet. The following are some pictures of the toilet truck.

At the end of the symphony, there were fireworks whereby many of us didn't really expect that to happen. However, I took some pictures of the firework.

Town of Port Augusta (PA)

Port Augusta is a very small place.
I can travel from one place to another in less than 10 minutes.

The town of Port Augusta is simply a 5 minutes drive away from Miles Street.
On sunday, it is a very quiet and laid back place as compared to Adelaide.
Today, I decide to go to the town to get a few things and I took some pictures of the town.

Before I head home, I had decided to buy some bakery goodies.
It had been quite sometime since I last have them.
I used to walk pass the shop a couple of times during my lunchbreaks.
Unfortunately, I am always rushing to get some stuff done.
Hence, I didn't have the time to go in there.
The bakery shop called 'French Hot Bread'.
Here is the picture of the shop.

The goodies in the shop are fresh, cheap and delicious.
I looked around and decided to buy
(1) A fruit flan
(2) A chocolate mud cake
Both of these sweeties are for my afternoon tea.
Both simply tasted delicious.
I reckon the stuff in that shop are much cheaper than those sold in Adelaide.

Miles Street in Port Augusta

The following are pictures the place where I stayed at Miles Street during my placement in Port Augusta. This house is meant to be a birthing place whereby mothers stay there temporarily while waiting for their babies to be deliveried. I am just assuming that mothers are able to stay there temporarily as it is just in front of the Port Augusta Hospital which is simply just a 2 minutes walk behind the house. Hence, anytime if there might be emergency, the mothers might be able to get some help.

Community Placement in Port Augusta

Port Augusta (PA)

Port Augusta is located 322 km north of Adelaide and is a genuine crossroads with roads heading north to Alice Springs and Darwin, west to the Nullarbor and the Eyre Peninsula and east to Adelaide.

I will be doing my Community Placement in PA for 7 weeks from 21st April 2008 to 6th June 2008. I took a coach over to PA from Adelaide (ADL) on 20 April 2008 at 10.30am and arriving at 2.40pm. The ticket itself cost about AU$$23.05.

It isn't my first time here going to PA. 2 years ago, I went with 2 of my friends for a holiday at Flinders Rangers in December 2006. While traveling there, my friend wanted to drop by PA to hand up some scholarship documents before heading over to Flinders Rangers.

Anyway, back to my story again. I came over and stayed at Miles Street which is located pretty near the Port Augusta Hospital. Initially, I thought that might be the place where I would be working. However, it isn't. I am doing my placement at Flinders Terrace Health Centre. At the moment, I am unable to provide you with the pictures. I will try to post the picture in my next blog if possible. I apologize for that.

I am presently staying at Miles street. However, tonight I would be shifting over to Elizabeth Terrace. I don't have any photos with me at the moment. I shall try to post it up next time. Here are the pictures of the place that I stayed in Miles Streets. What I found amusing is simply the road names are shown in road itself. It is very different from Singapore whereby there is a road sign for the road names (pictures would be posted up in the next blog).

Adelaide's Blue Galah Backpackers Hostel

At last, I've arrived Adelaide.

I have settled down too.
Now I am staying in a backpackers.
The place is called

My room:
Single Room (No sharing)
Cost: AU$70.00

Things I like about the place:
Free breakfast.
Common TV provided.
Convenient.
Wireless internet access (as I can stay in my room and use the internet)

Although it would be cheaper to share room with others,
I chose to stay in the single room.
The reasons are:
(1) Uncomfortable sharing rooms with strangers
(2) I do not trust strangers staying with me in the same room when I am out of my room.
One will never know what will happen when one is not in their room.

As many of you would have guessed,
I managed get internet access too.
I used this card called Global Gossip.
Initially, I paid AU$20.00 for the internet access,
which only allow me to use the internet for 1-2 hours.
However, when I went to the website,
I realized that it is cheap to get the full day access to the internet.
It only cost an additionally AU$30.
Therefore, I went to the counter and asked to top up the account.
I am also able to blog things up at the same time too.
It is really fantastic.

17 April 2008 is a very sad day for me.
It was the day where I have to leave all my friends, boyfriend and family in Singapore for a long period of 8 months.
*Sighs*

Nevermind. I should try not to be sad for now as time will pass very quickly when one gets busy.

Sorry for not blogging for almost 2 years. It is really a long story why I haven’t been blogging.

Anyway, I will just brief tell you all the reasons why I was unable to blog:

(1) My laptop crashed. All data in my laptop were lost, including my blog website too.

(2) I am a noobster in blogging. Since I wasn't good in it, I wasn't able to retrieve my blog website.

(3) My busy schedule in school.

I shall tell you all of how I manage to get my blog website back.

One day, as I was chatting in IRC (also known as Internet Relay Chat), someone (by the nick of Husky) asked me if this blog belong to me. He was able to get my address as he used my msn address to find it via goggle website to search for my blog. Since he had never met up with me before, he double checked with me to confirm if this blog belong to me.

I clicked on the link which he gave me and realized that it was my long lost blog website. I got really excited and told him that it belong to me. Anyway, I should really thank him for finding this blog for me. If not, I would not be able to update stuff about me.

Anyway, I know it is really silly of me to be really excited over such small matter. However, I am really excited to blog stuff about myself once again. I hope that all the things that I blog would be entertaining to all of you. Hope you all enjoy reading my blog. Anyway, do stay tune for more updates.

Final Product of my Carrot Cake

This is the final product of my carrot cake.. It had been very successful.. There are many different flavours too.. White and black... Spicy and non-spicy types too.. I invited many of my friends over for the carrot cake buffet.. I created my own recipe too.. My friends can joke with me saying that I can open my own carrot cake shop... Hahahaha.. I don't think I will do so cause it is very tedious to make it.. Trying to make it once might be good enough.. Hehehe... There are 9 different types of Carrot cake as you can see there.. It took my friend and I present the final product after about 4 to 5 hours. It was tiring but yet it was so much fun too... Hehehe... Here is the products...

This is my 1st time making carrot cake... The singapore dish which many Singaporeans like... Delicious but yet unhealthy.. Very excited as this is the 1st time i am making this dish.. Really hope that it will be turn out really well... Gona start cooking really soon...
